Ribbon Cutting and BBQ at the Home Builders Care Assessment Center

On Thursday, August 22, the Home Builders Care Foundation (HBCF), will host a Ribbon Cutting and BBQ Dinner to celebrate the completion of the new patio and picnic shelter at HBCAC, Montgomery County’s primary emergency shelter for homeless men – the Home Builders Care Assessment Center.

The improvements at the shelter will be dedicated to Mr. Chip Merlin, who is an HBCF past-president and who served as Builder Captain with KHovnanian Homes during the the original construction of the shelter in 2000.  Mr. Merlin passed away in 2011.  Chip’s family will be present for the ribbon cutting and Ike Leggett the Montgomery County Executive is also expected to attend.

Immediately after the dedication, a hot BBQ dinner will be served to shelter residentsstaff and guests.  If you knew Chip, we’d love for you to join us in person or in spirit.  We are holding this event as a Help the Homeless Community Event and walkers and donations will help fund this effort.
